Culture, Nature & Wellbeing in Northern Italy
April 19–28, 2027
The Journey
Discover the Soul of Veneto
Some journeys take you to new places. Others invite you to experience them, and yourself, in a different way.
Welcome to Veneto, a region of remarkable contrasts and quiet beauty. Here, medieval towns and elegant cities coexist with rolling hills, historic vineyards, and landscapes shaped by centuries of tradition. Art, architecture, food, and local life tell the story of a place best discovered beyond the usual tourist routes.
Created for those joining the Enlightenment Intensive, this journey offers the opportunity to explore Veneto before and after the retreat, allowing cultural discovery and personal exploration to become part of the same experience.
In the days leading up to the Intensive, you’ll have time to meet your fellow participants, become familiar with your surroundings, and discover the region through its places, flavours, and traditions. It is an opportunity to arrive gradually, build connections, and prepare for the experience ahead.
After the Intensive, you’ll have more time for yourself, with space to rest, nurture your body and mind, and enjoy moments of quiet after an intense inner experience. It’s an opportunity to return to yourself at your own pace, before gradually stepping back into everyday life.
With a local host by your side, everything is carefully arranged, from transportation and accommodation to activities and local experiences, so you can be present and enjoy each moment.
Because this journey is not about checking places off a list.
It is about creating space to connect: with the people around you, with the culture you are discovering, and with the experience itself.
Come discover the true essence of Veneto, where a different kind of beauty reveals itself when you travel with intention.
Your Local Host
Meet your local host
My name is Diana, and I am a traveller at heart.
Traveling has always been a big part of my life. It has allowed me to discover new places and cultures, step outside my comfort zone, and see the world from different perspectives.
I was born and raised in Treviso, and for many years I couldn’t wait to leave. It took travelling far from home and reconnecting with my roots to finally appreciate my hometown and the Veneto region through different eyes. Today, as a tour leader, one of the things I love most is sharing that feeling of discovery with others, helping them fall in love with Italy’s landscapes, food, traditions, and little details.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the most memorable travel experiences are not just about the places we visit, but also about the connections we create along the way: shared laughter, local traditions, new experiences, and the feeling of truly belonging somewhere.
I can’t wait to welcome you to Veneto, share a part of Italy that means so much to me, and experience it together.

The Places
The places that make this journey
Discover the places that give this journey its character.
Treviso
Medieval charm, Renaissance heritage and the birthplace of tiramisù
Treviso is a city where water, history and everyday Italian life intertwine. Its historic centre retains traces of its medieval past and Renaissance elegance, with frescoed façades, arcaded streets and canals that wind between old buildings. Beyond its picturesque appearance, Treviso is also part of one of northeastern Italy’s most dynamic economic areas, home to major manufacturing companies and a long tradition of craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. The city is equally renowned for its culinary heritage: tiramisù, one of Italy’s most beloved desserts, is closely associated with Treviso, where the recipe was established at the restaurant Le Beccherie in the early 1970s. Together, these contrasts reveal a city that balances historical character with a distinctly contemporary spirit.
Venice, Murano & Burano
The legacy of a maritime republic
For more than a thousand years, Venice was the centre of the Venetian Republic, a maritime power whose commercial networks connected the Adriatic, the Mediterranean and the Byzantine world. This exchange of cultures is still visible in the city’s architecture, most famously in St Mark’s Basilica, whose golden mosaics, domes and richly decorated façades reflect strong Byzantine influences. Across the lagoon, Murano developed an internationally renowned glassmaking tradition, while Burano became known for its colourful houses and fishing heritage. Together, Venice and its islands tell a story of navigation, trade, artistic innovation and cultural exchange that shaped one of Europe’s most distinctive historical landscapes.
Villa Sandi & Valdobbiadene
Palladian architecture and the art of winemaking
The Veneto countryside is dotted with historic villas that reflect the wealth, agricultural traditions and artistic ambitions of the Venetian Republic. Villa Sandi, built in 1622, is an elegant example of Palladian-inspired architecture, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry and monumental columns. This architectural language takes its name from Andrea Palladio, the sixteenth-century architect whose interpretation of ancient Greek and Roman architecture profoundly influenced European and American neoclassical design, including the architectural tradition associated with the White House. Further north, the hills around Valdobbiadene are celebrated for their vineyards and the production of Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Here, generations of winegrowers have shaped a landscape in which the cultivation of the vine remains both an economic tradition and an expression of local identity.
The Brion Memorial
Architecture, memory and the relationship with nature
Designed by Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa between 1969 and 1978, the Brion Memorial is one of the most remarkable works of twentieth-century architecture in the Veneto region. Commissioned by Onorina Brion in memory of her husband, Giuseppe, the memorial combines geometric forms, concrete, water and carefully framed views of the surrounding countryside. Scarpa drew on a wide range of architectural and artistic traditions to create a space that is both monumental and intimate. Rather than functioning simply as a place of remembrance, the memorial invites visitors to reflect on the relationship between architecture, nature and the passage of time.
Asolo
The historic village of artists and writers
Perched among the hills of the Treviso province, Asolo has attracted visitors for centuries with its scenic setting, historic streets and refined atmosphere. Known as the City of a Hundred Horizons, it preserves traces of its Roman origins and a medieval past before becoming part of the Venetian Republic. Its cultural reputation grew particularly through its association with artists, writers and intellectuals, including the English poet Robert Browning and the celebrated actress and explorer Eleonora Duse. Asolo offers a glimpse of a more intimate side of Veneto, where history and artistic inspiration are closely connected to the surrounding landscape.
Possagno
The legacy of Antonio Canova
Possagno is the birthplace of Antonio Canova (1757–1822), one of the leading sculptors of European Neoclassicism. Inspired by the ideals of ancient Greek and Roman art, Canova became internationally celebrated for his refined marble sculptures and his ability to convey movement, emotion and beauty through classical forms. The town preserves his artistic legacy through the Museo Gypsotheca Antonio Canova, where plaster models reveal the creative process behind many of his masterpieces, and the monumental Tempio Canoviano, a church conceived by the artist himself and inspired by classical architecture. Together, these places offer an insight into the life and vision of a sculptor whose work helped define an entire artistic era.
Bassano del Grappa
A historic crossroads at the foot of the mountains
Situated along the Brenta River, Bassano del Grappa has long occupied a strategic position between the Venetian plain and the Alpine foothills. Its historic centre reflects centuries of commerce, craftsmanship and cultural exchange, while the celebrated Ponte degli Alpini, traditionally associated with architect Andrea Palladio, has become an enduring symbol of the city. Bassano also holds an important place in the history of the First World War: the nearby Monte Grappa was the scene of decisive battles on the Italian front between 1917 and 1918. The surrounding landscape remains closely connected to the memory of the soldiers who fought there, giving the area a historical significance that extends well beyond its architectural beauty.
The Euganean Thermal Area
An ancient tradition of thermal wellness
At the foot of the Euganean Hills, the Euganean Thermal Area has been renowned for its healing waters since Roman times. Its main thermal destinations — Abano Terme, Montegrotto Terme, and Galzignano Terme — each offer a distinctive way to experience the region’s long-standing wellness tradition. The ancient name Aponus, associated with the local thermal springs and their divine protector, reflects the importance of these waters in the spiritual and therapeutic life of the region. Over the centuries, thermal bathing evolved into a defining feature of the area, attracting visitors in search of rest and wellbeing. Today, these destinations combine their rich heritage with a modern approach to wellness, offering a peaceful setting where the restorative qualities of nature remain central to the local identity.
Padua
A city of knowledge, art and discovery
Padua is one of Italy’s most historically significant university cities, with a cultural heritage shaped by centuries of scholarship, artistic achievement and scientific innovation. Its university, founded in 1222, attracted students and thinkers from across Europe and became a major centre of intellectual life. Among its most celebrated figures was Galileo Galilei, who taught mathematics here from 1592 to 1610. Padua is also home to extraordinary artistic treasures, including Giotto’s celebrated frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel, which marked a turning point in the history of Western painting. The city’s enduring spirit of inquiry and creativity makes it a compelling place to discover the intellectual and artistic foundations of the Veneto region.

Your day-by-day journey
Day 1 · April 19, 2027Arrival & Treviso
Our journey begins on Monday afternoon in Treviso city center, where we’ll meet and settle into our modern and central hotel, a few minutes away from the Duomo.
Once everyone has arrived, we’ll head out for our first gelato together, the perfect (very Italian) excuse to meet one another and ease into the journey.
We’ll take a relaxed walk around Treviso, simply getting our bearings and becoming familiar with the city. We’ll stroll through the historic center, see some of the main spots, and get a feel for the places you’ll be able to enjoy during your free time.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a pizza dinner in the most iconic pizzeria of the city, in the beautiful Piazza dei Signori.

Day 2 · April 20, 2027Venice • Murano • Burano
We’ll begin our Venetian adventure with a train ride from Treviso to Venice, followed by a boat across the lagoon to Murano. Here, we’ll discover the ancient art of glassmaking through a live demonstration, watching master glassmakers transform molten glass using fire, breath, and skill.
Our boat will then take us to colorful Burano, where bright houses line quiet canals and we’ll enjoy a traditional Venetian lunch featuring local specialties in a renowned and authentic restaurant away from the crowds.
After lunch and some free time on this little island, we’ll continue to the heart of Venice for a guided tour through some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. With our expert local guide we’ll also enter St. Mark’s Basilica, a privilege not every visitor gets to experience, to admire its golden mosaics and centuries of history.
After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore Venice at your own pace and enjoy dinner wherever you like, before meeting up again to take the evening train back to Treviso.

Day 3 · April 21, 2027Tiramisù & Prosecco Hills
This day is all about discovering the authentic flavors of Veneto.
The morning will be free to enjoy Treviso at your leisure, whether you’d like to wander through its charming streets, explore its canals, or relax at a local café.
Later, we’ll come together to make our own tiramisù from scratch in a charming 15th-century palazzo in the heart of Treviso, following the traditional recipe behind one of the city’s most beloved creations. Once it’s ready, you can savour your creation on the spot or take it with you to enjoy later.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit a beautiful Venetian villa and wine estate, Villa Sandi, including its historic 18th-century wine cellar, before enjoying a tasting of two local white wines.
From there, we will continue to Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will end the day with a delicious dinner overlooking the rolling Prosecco vineyards.

Day 4 · April 22, 2027Brion Memorial & Asolo
On Thursday morning, after checking out of our hotel in Treviso, we’ll head to the Brion Memorial for a guided visit. This extraordinary work by architect Carlo Scarpa brings together geometric forms, water and nature to create an almost otherworldly atmosphere, one of the reasons the site was chosen as a filming location for Dune.
We’ll then continue to Asolo, a hilltop town whose history stretches back to Roman times and whose elegant streets reflect centuries of cultural exchange. Enjoy some free time to explore the historic centre and have lunch at your leisure.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue to Possagno and we’ll settle into the venue where the Enlightenment Intensive will take place.
A gentle meditation and breathwork session will offer you a moment to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and settle into the experience ahead.
In the evening, enjoy your first dinner together with the other participants.

Day 5 · April 26, 2027Antonio Canova & Bassano del Grappa
After your last Intensive morning we’ll have lunch all together at the retreat location in Possagno and then we’ll continue our journey in Veneto.
We’ll discover the beauty of Antonio Canova’s art, beginning with a visit to his elegant Neoclassical Temple, followed by the Gypsotheca, which houses the original plaster models for some of his most celebrated sculptures, including Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss, The Three Graces, and Hercules and Lichas.
We’ll then head to Bassano del Grappa, famous for its iconic wooden bridge and its long tradition of grappa production. You’ll have free time to explore the town, enjoy dinner at a place of your choice, and soak up its atmosphere before heading to our final hotel in the Euganean Thermal Area.

Day 6 · April 27, 2027Thermal Relaxation & Padua
This morning is dedicated to some well-deserved relaxation at our hotel in the Euganean Thermal Area, one of Europe’s oldest and largest thermal spa destinations, with a wellness tradition dating back over 3,000 years. Enjoy the thermal pools, sauna, Turkish bath and a range of wellness treatments, or simply take time to relax and recharge. We’ll then enjoy a good lunch together at the hotel.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to Padua city center and, after a short orientation tour, you’ll have complete freedom to explore the city. Discover its beautiful churches, the historic Botanical Garden, or the famous Scrovegni Chapel with Giotto’s masterpieces and enjoy dinner whenever you wish.

Day 7 · April 28, 2027Padua & Goodbyes
After checking out of our hotel, we’ll return to Padua for our final morning together, giving you more time to discover the city beyond the highlights of the previous day. Wander through its elegant streets, explore its many museums and hidden corners, browse the local shops, or simply enjoy a leisurely coffee.
Around lunchtime, we’ll meet to share one last typical meal together before heading back to Treviso in the afternoon.
Treviso will be our final base before departure: a relaxed and convenient place to conclude the journey, whether you’re heading home or extending your stay to explore more of the Veneto region and its neighbouring cities. With easy connections to Venice Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Airport, it’s a practical starting point for whatever comes next.
